PRIVACY POLICY

This policy explains what I do with your personal information when you contact me, buy from me, or join my mailing list.

Who I am. Rachel Foister Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, number 15991327, trading from a studio in Cornwall. I am the data controller for the information described here. You can reach me at info@rachelfoister.com.

What I collect, and why

When you use the enquiry form. Your name, your email address, and whatever you choose to tell me in your message. I use it to reply to you and to keep track of our conversation if it continues. The lawful basis is legitimate interest: you have contacted me about my work and expect an answer.

When you join the mailing list. Your email address, and your name if you give it. I use it to send occasional letters from the studio. The lawful basis is consent, which you give by signing up and can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link at the foot of every letter, or by emailing me.

When you buy a work. Your name, contact details, and a delivery address. I use these to fulfil the sale, arrange delivery, and keep proper business records. The lawful basis is performance of a contract, and for the record-keeping, legal obligation.

I do not collect special category data, and I do not ask for anything I do not need.

What I do not do

I do not sell your information. I do not share it with anyone for marketing purposes. I do not use it to build a profile of you, and there is no automated decision-making of any kind.

Who else handles it

Two kinds of organisation necessarily see some of this information in the course of doing their job for me.

Squarespace, which hosts this website and processes anything submitted through its forms.

KIT, which stores the mailing list and sends the letters.

A courier or shipper, if you buy a work and it needs delivering, who will need your name and address.

My accountant, Jon Davies Accountants, for records relating to a sale.

Each of these acts on my instructions. Some may store data outside the UK, in which case appropriate safeguards apply.

How long I keep it

Enquiries, for up to three years after our last contact, since a conversation about a painting can reasonably resume after a long gap. Mailing list details, until you unsubscribe. Records relating to a sale, for six years, which is what UK tax law requires.

Your rights

You can ask me for a copy of what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, ask me to restrict how I use it, or object to my using it. You can also ask for it in a portable form. Email info@rachelfoister.com and I will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113.
