I collaborate with dancers, choreographers, circus artists and dance companies as an embedded visual artist, working alongside them as new work is created and rehearsed. Rather than taking traditional portrait or commission work, I develop my own independent bodies of painting in dialogue with the choreography and rehearsal process.
During a collaboration I typically:
Observe and sketch in rehearsals and creative development sessions
Create experimental colour studies that respond to the energy, structure and emotional arc of the piece
Develop a series of finished oil paintings that act as visual echoes of the production, capturing its peak moments and quiet thresholds
These works can then be shared with your audience through:
Exhibitions in foyer or gallery spaces linked to performances
Limited edition prints and original works offered to audiences, supporters and collectors
Artist talks or in‑conversation events that deepen audience engagement
My primary collectors are dance lovers and followers of the companies and dancers I work with. Together with my collaborators, I create artworks that extend the life of a performance beyond the stage, offering something audiences can return to long after the curtain falls.
